We recently asked each of you to share what you have been up to along with any exciting news you might have. Several brothers reached out with news of growing families, relocating and career changes. Here’s what they had to say:

“We recently moved to Landen, Ohio in June of 2015. My daughter, Lillian, will be four this year, and my wife, Megan, and I are celebrating are 3rd wedding anniversary this May.

For the most part, life is a lot calmer than the old days at 1942, but we like to BBQ and catch up with old Phis. We typically see Lydell Carter, Jordan Burke, Josh Neptune, Keith Coleman and Greg Smigiel a few times a year.

I run a financial practice affiliated with Northwestern Mutual. We focus on financial planning, retirement planning and insurance planning. We are currently looking for a new advisor to join our team in Cincinnati. Please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or view my website.”

“I continue to travel to remote locations for fine art photography—most recently to Haridwar, India; Mongolia and Dorset County England. My wife, Sharon, and I continue our settlement consulting business on behalf of self-insured clients from our home in the Washington, D.C. suburbs.”

John Rolls ’64
“I completed the house on Edgartown Great Pond, Martha’s Vineyard and completed remodeling of the house in Harbour Island, Bahamas. My grandchildren are now 12, 10, 8 and 6. I have two families, one in Augusta GA moving to Detroit and the other in Brookfield CT. One son (45) is a transplant surgeon in GA. The other (40) is a businessman in antique cars in CT. My home for 30 years is in Armonk, NY. Betsy, Bowling Green U, and I reach 50 years in August.

I worked for General Motors, Ford, Monsanto, RCA, United Technologies and Deutsche Bank. I lived in Brussels for three years when I was with Monsanto.

I was OSU Phi Delt (1964 graduate) and Columbia Business School (1968 graduate).

Betsy was born in Perrysburg, OH where she grew up. I was born in Hamilton, ON. I grew up in Mexico City and Cincinnati and became “legal” when I was naturalized US in ’62.

My hobbies are antique cars and airplanes. Fly Twin Cessna from White Plains airport, 10 minutes from home, to Martha’s Vineyard for approximately an hour and North Eleuthera BHS for approximately five hours.

I am now the Chairman of Fuel Cell Energy and am busy losing my money in these terrible markets.”

Tom Backhus ’70
“I am a 1970 Graduate of Ohio State and a member of Phi Delta Theta.

After 33 years, we left the Vail area and moved further back in the mountains to a small, rural valley town called Paonia. Look it's pretty cool!

Married to my wife Tess for 40 years (last year). We have three girls and four grandsons. Two of the boys got to attend a Fiesta Bowl practice and meet Urban. That was cool too.

I coached college football for 12 years, brokered real estate in Vail since '82, created, owned and operated 4 Eagle Ranch near Vail for 29 years, still broker (sell) real estate in Central Colorado and live in Paonia.

I still feel a special relationship with house brothers from back when, although I'm not real good with staying in touch.

Go Bucks!”

“I’ve just launched a new cybersecurity venture, Harbor Technology Group. We are focused on providing cybersecurity risk consulting and strategy to small and mid-sized businesses…an underserved, but highly vulnerable market. This is my 3rd cybersecurity start-up.”
