(441 Crestwood Ln., Naples FL 34113; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) On September 14 was honored by The Ohio State University Alumni Association recieving The Ralph Davenport Mershon Award. " Presented to Alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to The Ohio State University, as symbolized by the exceptional volunteer work of its namesake, who was largely responsible for Alumni Assocciation's beginnings as an organized force for the university."

This was primarily due my work with BUCK-I-SERV, Ohio State's alternative break program. Students go to one of 31 locations to do volunteer work giving one week of their break. By the end of this year some 3,000 students will have experienced working at Habitat For Humanity in Florida and the Carolinas, hurricane relief in New Orleans, Soup Kitchens in various cities.etc.,etc.

The vision of BUCK-I-SERV is to foster a lifelong commitment of civic engagement and service to others.

Typical post trip comments are: "life changing experience; forever changed how I view society; opened my eyes as to what I want to do in the future; one of the best experiences of my life; it makes me wish I could just do service for the rest of my life".

I have had a good ride through life and am just trying to pay my dues by encouraging students to enjoy their good ride by paying their dues as they go along.

Class of 1978

May 25, 2012 my father, Archie C. Priestley, bond number 668, joined the Chapter Grand. He was a loyal Phi, serving on the House Corporation for many years in the 1960s and 1970s.

He greatly enjoyed his days at Ohio State as a student, and then again as a parent from 1974-78. He loved to stop by the house now and then, to host tailgates before football games, and to have brothers over for Sunday night dinners in the spring - invariably grilled burgers with gin and tonics for drinks.

An unusual footnote, Brother Priestley pledged PDT while he was President at another fraternity. He was a veterninary student on what was then a six year plan, and had previously joined Alpha Psi, the professional veterinary fraternity. Later in his college years he developed friendships with some Phi's who encouraged him to join, and so he pledged PDT while he was President of Alpha Psi. He said the actives went easy on him as a pledge in deference to his age and position.

Please remember my father, Brother Arch Priestley, in your thoughts and prayers.

David Priestley
